IMMERSIONS

On Tuesday 16th January 2024 PAM launched a new project called ‘Immersion’ – as well as more ad-hoc events, we meet monthly on the third Tuesday for an immersive film experience at the Market Hall Dome.

Immersion aims to break down barriers between church and community and offers a safe space to enjoy a shared experience of art / theatre followed by a conversation at a deeper level which might include a spiritual connection. There is no pushing of agenda - it is all about sharing experiences and learning from one another.

When / where does it take place?

The 360 immersive dome experience will take place on a monthly basis at the Market Hall Dome on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7pm – 9pm, starting with an immersive film, followed by a conversation in the café.

Ad-hoc immersive experiences (including theatre performances, art exhibitions and concerts) will take place as and when and where suggested and agreed by group members.

What is the cost?

The immersive dome experience is free – buy your own coffee.

Ad-hoc arts / theatre experiences to be funded by the individual (prices will vary according to the activity).

How to join?

The Dome experience is a free, non-ticketed event – you can just turn up, but it would be great to know if you are joining us for the first time, to ensure we have spaces.

Ad-hoc experiences – to be booked by group leaders or individuals, as agreed when planning / depending on the event…

Who is it for?

Immersion is for anyone who appreciates the arts and enjoys conversation. Immersion is specifically a non-church-based gathering and is ideal for those who would like to talk about spirituality, but don’t necessarily want to attend a church.

For information

Due to the spontaneous nature of the project, we are unable to produce flyers for individual events, so please do join the Immersion community / follow Performing Arts Mission Facebook page to keep up with event details or call 07478 670953.

Hope theatre café

Hope Theatre Café is a professional venue for audience members to have a night out and relax with a coffee (or tea) and slice of delicious home-made cake, whilst watching quality theatre / music / performance, without having to go into the City Centre. Hope Theatre Café provides a non-threatening venue for all people – especially those who wouldn’t usually attend a church. All artists are professional Christian performers who bring a message of the hope they have in Jesus in their own unique way – be that through theatre, comedy, music or magic! Find out upcoming events HERE

PRODUCTIONS

PAM is passionate about creating quality theatre with a message of hope. Our first PAM production – Passion, by Anne Middleton – took place during Holy Week 2022, after a two-year delay due to Covid. You can find out more about this powerful production and view gallery HERE.

Anne's latest production took place at the Devonport Playhouse from 18th to 21st October. Bloomin' Church!, performed by a core cast of seven professional actors, was a bloomin' success! The play opened up the walls of church and took the audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. To find out more about this unique production and view gallery, click HERE

If you would like to be involved in a future production or would like to speak to Anne about ideas / support for a production for your own church, please contact Anne HERE. (Please note that Anne has limited availability.)

Workshops

Following the success of the first PAM production, Passion, many cast members were keen to continue to meet and be involved in other events – and so the PAM Drama Team was born. They meet on Monday evenings, a couple of times a month, for workshops and to rehearse drama pieces for the circuit services. Contact Anne to find out how to get involved.

Art exhibitions

PAM is waiting to be able to host our first Art Exhibition. Featuring Jacqui Parkinson’s dramatic textiles, Marine de Villepin’s photos, audio-art from Anne Middleton (PAM), along with a range of other fascinating art forms, this should be an event for all the senses. Through art exhibitions, PAM aims to engage the community in reflection on spiritual themes; to encourage and promote Christian artists, especially those living locally; and to engage local schools in themed art, with an opportunity to have their work displayed as part of a professional exhibition.
